Just an hour’s drive from Auckland or Whangarei, the vineyard restaurant, Plume is a ‘must visit’ destination on any Matakana wine or food journey. However, if it is fine food you are after on your wine tour, it is hard to go past the Runner Duck Estate and Plume restaurant.  At Plume they are as passionate about sustainability as they are about their food and wine and have a stunning energy-efficient, north facing New Zealand villa-type building design with a low carbon floor print which incorporates the use of as many recycled materials as possible. They also have a solar energy system to power the kitchen’s hot water and compost and recycle all their waste.


Plume restaurant is situated in a spectacular vineyard location with glorious 180 degree views of vineyards, fields, valleys and mountains. At Plume they offer both indoor and patio dining and they are open for wine tasting and lunch Wednesday to Sundays (lunch 11am to 3pm, wine tastings 10am to 4pm Wednesday to Friday, and 10am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday.) Shake Shoppe Arcade Launches "Meet Me At The Cone” Social Media Campaign

Since opening on Memorial Day weekend, the Shake Shoppe Arcade at Seaside Heights has attracted thousands of New Jersey residents and visitors to its jaw dropping outdoor façade, delicious ice cream, candy and baked goods, and fun arcade games. But what really has people coming back is the Jersey Shore Cone, an enormous foam structure affixed to the exterior of the Shake Shoppe Arcade building.

The Shake Shoppe Arcade has named the massive structure the “Jersey Shore Cone” and is asking visitors to the boardwalk to take a photo with the cone and share it via Twitter and/or Instagram with the tag #JerseyShoreCone. The Jersey Shore Cone was created using a combination of CNC 3-D Cutting machinery and hand sculpturing.

Texas BBQ Cook Off a series of projects in record payout is over $ 100,000

Continued effort to provide a better experience for all die-hard BBQ competition cooking plates in the back yard grills, BBQ in the WESTERN army in the West, the Premium is hosted by W3 BBQ Cook Off-series. The series consists of three BBQ cook-offs will sanction by the international barbeque cookers Association (IBCA), and connected to each other in the point accumulation system (points in the chase).

URBAN RADISH has been hailed as a burgeoning neighborhood solution is a food desert, a problem that has affected residents and businesses in the area for decades. The market was founded on the vision to provide unique neighborhood in urban markets, where buyers visit frequently and buy in small amounts in the farm to fork to produce hot and cold meats, fish and "Cal-Med" prepared foods.


"Nearly a year after the construction, we are excited that the Grand opening day is a week away," said Carolyn Paxton, co-founder, URBAN RADISH. Architecture, URBAN development and marketing company designed the uniform of the RADISH, a creative space to preserve the integrity of the original warehouse space, but with the added sustainable design features and components that encourage social interaction. The markets were re-purposed to 8,000-square-foot former warehouse in the manufacture of glass, the goal is to keep the Industrial aesthetics. One of the defining features of the building to the left is the Most iconic, larger-than-life mural painted by the renowned Belgium Chipmunk street muralist, Peter Roa on the side of the building. The new design is: the outdoor seating area, which has picnic tables; Landscape design, featuring the local plants of green space and gives shade; and a European-style bakery and deli featuring ends re-purposed wood off another construction site. The parking lot offers free parking and is one of the largest electric car charging stations in the United States, where customers to fully charge even when they are grocery shopping or enjoy a sandwich for lunch hours.


URBAN workers are another unique aspect of the RADISH at the store. URBAN RADISH partnered with Homeboy Industries, a non-profit organization which assists high-risk, formerly a gang of men and women involved in the continuum of services and programs, such as internships, staff in many positions in the store. Positions ranged from stock clerk to Assistant Cheesemonger. Many of the staff members came to the Homegirl Cafe and bakery workers, Ilves received intensive training, as well as restaurant services in the culinary arts.


Opening ceremony of the event, which kicks off with a free breakfast at 9 am after a dedication ceremony at 10: 00 a.m. throughout the day is a free taste of the raffles, samples and trips to the market.

US FDA to Ban BPA-Based Epoxy Resins in Baby Formula Containers


The US FDA announced that it will publish a final rule that will disallow the use of bisphenol-A (BPA)-based epoxy resins as coatings in infant formula packaging(1).  The agency’s decision is based solely upon the fact that BPA has been abandoned by all of the US manufacturers of infant formula, and is not to be taken as a statement of the safety of BPA.  This rule amended 21 CFR 175.300(2) which deals with resinous and polymeric coatings for food contact purposes, and went into effect on 12 July 2013.  BPA-based resins and coatings may still be used for articles “intended for use in producing, manufacturing, packing, processing, preparing, treating, packaging, transporting, or holding food” (3).  This would include metal containers which almost always use some kind of polymeric coating, though not necessarily BPA-based.  Previously, in June of 2012, the FDA had also disallowed BPA-based polycarbonate resins for the use of infant feeding bottles (baby bottles) and spill-proof cups (sippy cups)(4).


Bisphenol A in Other Juvenile Products


As with the baby bottles and sippy cups, the FDA exercised its authority under 21 CFR 171.130 to amend a regulation based upon “an assertion of facts, supported by data, showing that new information exists with respect to the food additive or that … old uses abandoned … [that] may justify its amendment or repeal.” (5)  The abandonment must be complete, and through a survey of all manufacturers of infant formula that are registered in the US, the FDA found they had all abandoned the use of BPA-based epoxy resins in their containers.  Furthermore, the FDA was presented with no evidence that any of these manufacturers had definite plans to reintroduce BPA in any future production of infant formula packaging.


US FDA was careful to point out in its final rule that this change is strictly based upon abandonment and is not a statement one way or another on the safety of BPA.  Furthermore, consideration of any other type of packaging was beyond the scope of the ruling, and the FDA had not received any evidence of the complete abandonment of BPA-based packaging materials in any other type of container. The FDA also declined to specify a minimum acceptable amount of BPA in infant formula containers due to environmental contamination.  They stated that in the highly unlikely event that the presence of BPA-based epoxy resins in infant formula packaging is identified in the future, it is then that the agency will decide whether the infant formula is adulterated under the Food, Drugs, and Cosmetics Act and would require a regulatory limit.
